Choking is extremely common and very frightening especially when it involves babies and young children. This can be either from food or small objects that they sometimes pick up and put in their mouths. However, knowing what do in an emergency situation could make a real difference.
According to figures “The British Red Cross have found 75 per cent of parents in the UK would not be able to save their baby from choking. Their survey of 2,000 adults also showed 20 per cent of parents never learnt any first aid.”
This is an alarming statistic, and if every parent knew just the basics of first aid skills, this could provide them with the skills and knowledge to deal with the everyday injuries and illnesses that their baby or child may face.
